A trip into the English Countryside…kinda

So I’ve been living in London for the last 3 months, and while I am a travel “blogger” sometimes I just need to stay put and literally NOT travel for a little while. That was London. My down time, time to catch up on work, on my blog, create some different videos, and sort out my future travel plans for the summer months.

Well before I left London for these summer travel plans, I thought it would be nice to explore some of the country side and surrounding areas. So for my first trip in my Viator Ambassdorship I decide to do a day trip of some of England’s most impressive sights only a few hours away on a full day sightseeing tour of Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Lacock Village and Bath.

Windsor Castle, gosh I wish I was a royal. Exploring the various ordinate halls and rooms that the royals lived in is seriously something out of the movies. It makes you crave the Tudors, or any other british historical TV show.

Although you can’t go into most of the Castle, the areas you do visit are very impressive and definitely make it worth the trip.

Next up was a personal favourite of mine, Stonehenge. One of the top places on my bucket list.

Check!

Not gonna lie, Stonehenge was quite….small, a lot smaller than I thought. I was also expecting to feel something more, some sort of aura or power like I did when I visited Machu Picchu, and Angkor Wat, places of extreme spirituality and power. But I guess not, maybe it wasn’t the right timing.

I am glad I saw it and I loved every second of being there, but it’s definitely not what I was expecting.

For lunch it was off to the town of Lacock, a medieval village, very carefully preserved from the exterior.

While there we decided that the best use of our limited time was to run around looking for the Harry Potter houses, since apparently Professor Snape’s House, James and Lilly Potter’s House and Tom Riddle’s Grave was filmed there. We were following a 9 year old kid that seemed pretty adamant in which house was and wasn’t in the film.

Tom Riddle’s Grave?

Harry Potter fans, did he get it right?

Last stop was the town of Bath, a very pleasant surprise indeed!

Bath, England

While the architecture in Bath was beautiful to look at, I wish I had more time to have actually gone into the Roman Baths, since that alone would have been a wicked experience. But, I didn’t plan nor think that far in advance. My bad.

Regardless, grabbing a Starbucks drink to warm up and wandering down the Avon river was quite a relaxing way to wrap up our trip.

It looks like you had fun in England. Leighlouise is right about Yorkshire. I live in West Yorkshire near Haworth where the Bronte family lived. The moors and countryside around are very beautiful and fun can be had at Haworth when we dress up and go along to the 40s and 60s weekends.
