Bay of Islands Trip Day 1- Auckland to Paihia

Hey guys!

So today was the first day in my Stray Bay of Islands 3 day trip from Auckland all the way up to the North most point, Cape Reinga. I bought a Stray Everywhere Pass, which is ALOT of money, BUT it allows me to travel all around New Zealand and pretty much see everything!

So my day started off checking out this giant Kauri tree as we drove from Auckland to Paihia.

Next we took a quick stop and went caving, barefoot to check out the glowworms, they unfortunately didn’t show up very well on camera :/

After our lovely caveing experience, which was very scary to say the least because I didn’t own a flashlight AND we where walking in the pitch black. I mean,  I could have stepped on a spider or something! We then headed back onto the road where we ran into some New Zealand wild life! And YES, THERE ARE LOTS OF SHEEP IN NEW ZEALAND.

LOL and lots of cows too. These ended up crossing our path and we had to pull over to let them pass .IMG_1165

After our wild life dilemma was over, we took another small pit stop to believe it our not, check out the Kawakawa Toilets! Yes, there are a huge tourist attraction! I found them quiet interesting myself .

And then finally, we got into Paihia and the Bay of Island around 4pm, and we spend the rest of the day at the beach, working on my rather pathetic tan XD.

    Hey Nadine, if you want some friendly locals to hang out with in Auckland there is quite a network of youtubers/twitterazzi of which the HQ seems to be Giapo (ice cream shop) on Queen street. Just go in and say ‘I’M FROM THE INTERNET!’ and they’ll welcome you with open arms I’m sure. Or hit any of us up on twitter and I’m sure we’d be happy to take you out for a coffee or a beer or whatever!

    O hey Nadine, give us Ur postal mailing address and we can mail U supplies like a flashlight, batteries, toilet paper, insect repellent, ammunition… um… err… wait… it’s New Zealand and the ruling Royalty doesn’t allow the natives to own and bear firearms… okay, U have to wait until U come to the USA to own a gun and have real liberty. Does NZ have a postal service?

  3. I must admit, I had to Google the Kawakawa Toilets. Interesting to say the least. However I couldn’t really figure out if they were just art works or actual functioning bathrooms. I’m not sure I want to know but I’m going to ask you anyway. Have fun!

    Wow, you’re in my country lol

    If you feel like hanging/singing/loitering/dancing/pointing/dancing/gaming/eating and being generally friendly to a kiwi bloke, let me know!!

    @nadine – Hi Nadine :]
    Yup, what Anna said is true. That’s the joy in living in such a small country – the NZ YouTube community is so small that we all know each other well and hang out on a regular basis. Giapo Gelato on Queen St is the shizznit. Just say you’re an internet person and there will always be amazing internet people around – it’s very different to overseas communities :]
    Hope you’re enjoying your time in NZ!

    P.S Hiiiiii @aaannarose xD <3
