SURPRISE!

So I’m here in New Zealand for a year!! I know it’s crazy, but that is me :)

There are alot of reasons I decided to go to New Zealand, one I have just recently graduated and I really wanted to travel but not vacation. And therefore I need to be able to provide myself with some income to fund my travels :P

So, the program I registered with to obtain my Working Holiday Visa is SWAP. That is the Canadian version, however, if you live in different countries there are multiple other programs to go through. A popular one for UK and USA residence is BUNAC. Here is New Zealand, it is called the IEP. One, if you are thinking of doing an overseas working holiday program, by yourself, seriously consider going through a program, they have been absolutely wonderful and helpful to me. :) AKA, they are also the reason I can upload my videos! (Because internet costs ALOT here!)

So, I am VERY excited to be starting this new part of my life, and to be able to share it will all of you will be just as exciting. However, I am a bit worried about what will become of this blog. See, this is my main portal for all my online work that I do, however, I want this to be my travel blog as well! So, I was thinking should I maybe make a separate travel section of my blog? Or should I just keep everything on here?

I was also temporally thinking of giving this URL a different redirect with a fancy smancy blog name. LOL, but I dunno what that would be yet. So give me some ideas!!!

Anyways, here are some photos from my first few days of being here!! These are from the Sky Tower in Auckland!

The wonderful thing about the program I am going through  is that not only have then been helping me with getting all the bank info and tax stuff setup, they also organize trips in conjunction with STRAY which is a travel bus company down here, and with a local hostel called Nomads. So I enjoy a couple day trips with them one being a  beach BBQ at a local beach here in Auckland, called Mission Bay.

The other being a day trip to Bethelles Beach, and to this wonderful waterfall.

Yes, I am THAT white!! LOL .

Anyways!! I got tons of more pics and hopefully videos coming your way soon, it all depends on where and when I can get the internet to work :/

So today is the second to last day of the Olympics and I thought I would take it apon myself to go out ice skating at Robson Square AND of course, take a look at the wonderful Olympic Flame!

Unfortunatly, it was behind this ugly fence and I didn’t feel like waiting an hour in line to get a clear view lol. So I guess this will do!

Anyways! I am off to go pack because guess what, I am gonna be in New Zealand tomorrow!!! Well not actually… but you’ll see!

While I was in Ottawa I was lucky enough to catch part of a festival called Winterlude. One of their attractions was these amazing Ice Sculptures!

These where absolutely amazing and while the pictures might not do justice to them, I can guarantee you, the artists that carved them must have spent an unimaginable amount of time on them.

If you haven’t noticed by now, they had some sort of mythological creature theme. Try and see if you can guess them all :) Aww common, its not THAT hard!

Meanwhile, I also thought I would try my hand at outdoor ice skating out on the Rideau Canal, which is apparently the worlds largest skating rink according to their website. (7.8 km or 4.8 miles).

Yes, you can’t really see much here, just go to their website for better pictures :P Helpful as always!

Somewhere during the Olympic Craziness that is Vancouver I managed to jump off to Ottawa for a few days to attend the CFTPA Prime Time in Ottawa Conference. Now this was my first time ever being in Ottawa or at Prime Time and I have to say I had quite an amazing time, even despite the snow!! :P I met alot of wonderful people and learn alot even in the short period of time I was there.

One of my FAVORITE things there was the 3D tvs and computer screens!

Nadine 209

Now the TV screens where pretty amazing, but what I was REALLY blow away by was the 3D gaming on the computer. It is gonna be huge! I must get one for myself :) Hopefully it won’t cost me an arm and a leg, but even if it does…. it will be totally worth it!

Samsung model on the left was my favorite for sure, using the shutter glasses, in my opinion in the shutter versus polarized war, shutter has my vote!

I also managed to hope over and check out Parliament, which was amazing and a lot quieter then I expected. (Apparently, it might have been closed, I just walked around :P )

Parliament is pretty much like the White House of Canada, a very stunning government building and icon of Canada.

So, I had a wonderful time but now it’s back to the Olympics and very non-snowy Vancouver :)

So I had the wonderful opportunity to check out the Men’s Luge at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics Games! It was crazy!! I had so much fun, it amazing how a crowd can pump you up. Also, seeing the event live is a completely different feeling. It’s so crazy seeing athletes in action!

Here a small video of the few clips I could manage without my hands freezing off. :) ENJOY!!

THE VANCOUVER 2010 WINTER OLYMPICS HAVE BEGUN!!

I hope everyone tuned into the Opening Ceremonies! I got the privilege, because I am a volunteer, to see the dress rehearsal LIVE!! It was AMAZING, quite the thing to see live. Of course I couldn’t take any video or show you before the event happened, but my sister sneaked in one photo of where we sat, hehe. So we pretty much saw everything minus the athletes and the torch.

HOWEVER, that did not stop me from watching it again, and this time at home with a bottle of lovely 2010 wine :) Because our seats where level with the stadium floor I missed a lot of the ground graphics and effects, as well as all the fine details on the performers. So it almost made it a completely different show.

Well that is all for today. I have a long day tomorrow, I am suppose to see the Men’s Downhill and the Men’s Luge, but both might be canceled due to weather and safety. O wells.

Night!

THANK YOU!!! This is such an incredible achievement for me, and it means so much to have all of your amazing support. Thanks again for joining me on this journey :)
